Overall it's a diagram of ancient Aristotelian theory of how all things are formed from combination of the elements earth, water, air, and fire. This design map shows the possible and impossible combinations of these elements.
Leibniz was an alchemist / chemist that was obsessed with creating a perfect language in which misunderstanding the truth is not possible.
The art is printed in excellent quality on a handmade fiber paper. The paper is a natural light tan color and has a nice texture and fiber inclusions that gives the prints a very unique vintage look.
